VISEGRAD RELAY MARATHON is a sporting and social event of partnership between slovak town Podolínec and polish village Rytro. It follows the 5 years long tradition, when the event was successfully completed and gained a good reputation in our region but also in whole Slovakia and other countries, especially in neighboring Poland.
This year's event is going to be realized within the project "Cross border cooperation between municipalities Podolinec and Rytro. This project is funded by the EU from the European Regional Development Fund in the framework of cross-border cooperation, Poland Slovak Republic 2007-2013.
The implementation of this activity should encourage local institutions and the population to participate in cross-border initiatives in sport and actively promote its development. In this context, it will remove the language and mental barriers, increasing awareness of the neighbors and form a new permanent structure for cooperation, exchange of experience, that takes place in various areas of life. It will also be of mutual assistance in solving common problems.
In the sports field project aims to actively promote running and physical activities as part of a healthy lifestyle. The target group are young people through their active participation in promoting this idea. Simultaneously they will build responsibility towards other runners and learn how to overcome obstacles.
